Boss Evolution (formally Girlboss Detroit) was founded in September 2016, when I was a few years into my entrepreneurial journey. My motivation for creating the group stemmed from the lack of support groups for women entrepreneurs in the Metro Detroit area. There are endless networking groups for business owners, but what I wanted, and later found many other women also wanted, was a group of women business owners that could lean on one another, seek guidance from one another, and truly empathize with the many hats we adorn daily.
My vision for B.E. is simple: We share, give, graciously take, and motivate. We listen. We give support and feedback, and we force each other out of our comfort zones. This is where great things happen. Our meetings have specific topics, yet many times we stray from focus and dial in to what is needed for someone at that moment. Flexibility is just as important, and, as women, we are no strangers to it. We not only think about what we want to get out of the group and its meetings, we also think about what we can contribute…how can we help other members? The amount of understanding and love in our group is palpable. There is so much trust because we relate with one another in all matters of life, not only business.
Building supportive relationships is the foundation of this group, and we are determined to grow together as a community, not as competition. It comes naturally when you are surrounded by open, caring women. There is no judgement, no competition…just comradery. We are in a new era for women. We are no longer letting society pit us against each other. We are in this together, and we are stronger together. WE decide our future.

Meet the Boss Team
We’re focused on building lasting relationships, business & personal. The more you commit yourself to being active, the more relationships you build. We share our knowledge, experiences, successes, & failures.
Being a Boss is all about ACTION. The relationships we create help us grow as business owners & as people in general. We believe that in order to create a successful business from the ground up, one needs an affiliation with support & shared resources.
We find that when people are given the chance to learn & strengthen relationships, business growth comes naturally. While we are not a networking group, it certainly is a perk. We are the movers & shakers of our communities.
In 2021, Girlboss Detroit celebrated 5 years. We’ve come a long way since 2016. Women in general have come a long way. Back when I first founded the group, the term Girlboss was picking up steam. Sophia Amoruso had coined the term with her book, #Girlboss, & women were excited about the idea behind the label. We were entering a new era for women. Competition with each other & judgement was disappearing, leaving room for true comradery. We are done letting society pit us against one another. We’re all in this together.
Girlboss has given this group of women the confidence, support, motivation, & sense of accomplishment that we all want & need. But, with most things, the term itself has worn out its welcome & we, as a society, & as a group, are evolving. We don’t need to announce that we’re Girlbosses. We’re just…Bosses. At the start of 2022, Girlboss Detroit became Boss Evolution! Building supportive relationships is the foundation of this group, and we are determined to continue to grow together as a community. Our core values won’t change. The bones of our group hasn’t changed. We just leveled up.
We’re in an incredible time for women. We keep evolving into who we are meant to be…and it’s pretty kick ass.
